You are invited by the Dutch Trauma Society to join a master class about trauma care with a surgical and an anaesthetic version.

This master class is based on well established principals and objectives of trauma management and is intended to provide surgeons and anaesthesiologists with an acceptable method for safe management, knowledge and skills, necessary to care for the critically injured trauma patient.

The course consists of key lectures, multidisciplinary case presentations and case discussions. You will be able to practice damage control procedures on cadavers and on live anesthetized pigs. Sharing the surgical and anaesthesiological content, trauma care is taken to the next level.

The course is also intended for military trauma surgeons and military anaesthesiologist. Included are lectures on blast, penetrating injuries and mass casualty care. Senior (inter)national faculty is attending. Many of them have military experience or a military background.

Surgeons
The course is designed for surgeons who may not have immediate access to sophisticated facilities and those working in emergency or surgical departments who have to treat victims of major trauma. Practical training of surgical skills (e.g. exposure neck, chest and abdomen, damage control orthopedics) at the Institute of Anatomy and at the Animal Research Laboratory are an important part of the program.

Practical training of surgical skills (e.g. exposure neck and chest for surgical airway and intra vascular or intra osseous access) at the Institute of Anatomy and resuscitation and trauma anaesthesia on live anesthetized pigs at the Animal Research Laboratory are an important part of the program. Team approach and advanced life support and decision making is practiced on the human patient simulator.

To register, please click here

Please note that the closing date for applications is November 10th 2010. Participation is limited to 24 persons for the DSTC® course and 24 persons for the DATC course.

We recommend 5-yearly update of knowledge, skills and procedures.
